The Murphy high finned tubes achieve a very large outside surface and lead to the best possible increase in the heat transfer between the fluid and the tube wall. The greatly enlarged finned outside surface is located in the Heat Exchanger on the side with the lower heat transfer coefficient in order to increase the heat transfer there. The greater the ratio of the tube side with the high heat transfer coefficient to the side with the lower heat transfer coefficient is, the better is the effectiveness of the fins.
